engine flush?

my 95 325i automatic has been running rather rough for the past few months.
it's been making a ticking sound from what i believe is the lifters and has also been vibrating when it is idle (only at very cold temperatures)
it pretty much runs rough if the car is under 30mph
i've replaced the knock sensor, intake manifold gask, vanos actuator, and the valve cover gasket
still the engine runs rough.
a friend of mine told me perhaps i need to do an engine flush
which to my understanding would clean all of the crap out of my engine and get rid of the dreadful ticking noise, but i don't know
i would like to know a bit more about the engine flush, that is if you can even do it on an automatic.

engine flush is a top engine cleaner, for getting carbon out of the tops of pistons and firing chamber. usually done on engines that idle alot, for example cop cars and security vehicles. you would be better off doing a tune-up. like plugs and wires, and a fuel filter, with maybe an air cleaner. hope this helps. Later, Mark.

i agree with MARK EM but i would try a cheaper way first i had same problem. What worked for me was running my tank empty filling up with 93 octane and REDLINE FUEL TREATMENT. After running it on the highway and half a tank later tick tick tick was gone.
GOOD LUCK!

its fuel treatment meets bmw standards. put it in the gas tank. cleans whole fuel system and lubes the valves. its safe i use it every time i change my oil.
