Diagnostic

I have an 89' Ford 250. It recently started backfiring into the intake manifold. After a 600 mile round trip, it lost all power to the engine. I ran a code reader and came back with 11 O & 41 C. 11-0= something wrong with cylinder #1, 41-c=no hego2s detected. I replaced the o2 sensor but it still reads back that it still has a problem. I have no idea even where to start with the 1st cylinder.......any suggestions?

I would check to make sure #1 is firing consistantly. It may be that #1 is misfiring every now and then.

Check your Distributor and your Coil for proper electrical output.

if you dont have a bad plug wire or plug you might have a sticking intake valve. if all else fails pull the valve cover and check it out

Thanxs for all of the advice. I did fix my O2 sensor problem. Ended up with some loose wires. As far as the #1 cylinder, I haven't found out what is wrong yet. Either burnt valves, stuck valves or a bad cam. I dropped it off at a mechanics yesterday, so hopefully I will hear something soon. I did replace the distributer cap, checked all of the spark plugs and wires. The only thing I didn't do was a compression check, because of it taking two people to do usually.

you 89 f250 is equipped with eec 4 and doesnt have the ability to pick out which cylinder is missing(no misfire monitor), i would probably guess that the code 41 dealt with bank 1 instead of cylinder 1, on an 8 cyl. engine, cyls. 1,2,3,4 would be on bank 1
