I need lowering advice 98 1500

I am looking to lower my 98 chevy 1500 ext. cab. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice. I am gonna purchase the belltech kit. 2 inches in the front and 4 in the back. The kit includes front and rear shocks, front spindles, hangers and shackles for the rear. Is there anything else i will need. I was also wondering what kind of muffler to get. It has the 305 in it. I would like something with a nice deep rumble under acceleration but not too loud while crusing. thank you

for lowering your truck thats all you will need. belltech is the best! and for your muffler flowmaster is the best. i have a 40 series on my truck and i think its too loud (maybe its because i have turn downs). get a 40 or 50 series muffler and i would pay a little bit more and get the ones with the "delta flow" technology

How much that belltech stuff gonna run ya? Interested in doing mine. And do you happen to remember what a 3/5 drop kit runs? I know thats more involved but think thats what I'm gonna do

It was around 500 dollars and I am not sure the other price for the 3/5 you can just call summit and ask them for sure.

I lowered mine using DJM spring, shackles, and hangars. The parts are excellant quality for not a lot of money. I wished that I went ahead and used a rear flip kit because it is easier since I had to torch the old shackles and hangars off. It does give a total of 6 inches in the rear so you would have to use springs and spindles or control arms in the front.

As of late, DJM has quickly become a more popular brand b/c of the quality as well as the price. Belltech has actually fallen behind in popularity. They are still an excellent brand, but DJM and McGaughys are quickly taking over the popularity of products. Make sure you grease everything and don't tighten the leaf springs completely until you get it on the ground.

As for exhaust, I have Borla and love it. Goin on 5 years and no rust at all. So my advice is get stainless. It also depends on what type of sound you want.

Lonelywolf, why did you have to torch the shackles? I understand the hangers b/c everyone konws those are a pain. The shackles should have been fairly easy to remove unless of course of road build up, etc from years of driving.
