Hi all,
I have a 05 z71 and when normal driving, hear a rattling in the lower part of the dash/ steering column. Just enough to be annoying. Does anyone else experience that? Dealer said it may be a problem in others and is checking it out.
Thanks.

Yes same area... dealer thinks it may be in the steering column and has ordered a seal to replace the one in the column. It is the noted area though.

Just to throw it out there, I had a problem with a low speed rattle and took my 01 5.3L to the dealer at least 3 or 4 times to have them try to find it. It completely sounded like it was coming from behind the dash, so they put some material all over the back of the dash bezel thinking that would quiet it. No luck. They did also say there was a little noise in my headliner, and fixed that. But my dash noise remained. After living with it for a few months more, I decided to search myself. And I finally found my rattle. It was the throttle cables under the hood rattling against the black plastic cover that sits on top of the motor. I zip tied them together lightly, and bent the bracket that holds them just enough so they were clear of touching anything.
Maybe worth checking! Mine is '01 but I think everything is still the same under the hood.

Hey I appreciate your tips. The truck is going in this week for a bushing in the steering column. If that does not solve it, I will look into your advice. Still Chevy TUFF right... thanks again.
