Magnaflow 3" LT1 catback :grinyes: :smokin: sitting n the box for now, I'll install after the high-flow cat (also magnaflow) comes in.... but me = happy (then again pretty soon ill have the rear jacked up anyway.... maybe ill just put the cat on later...)

Good deal, what are the chances of you getting some sound clips after the install?

Savage Messiah

OK well, it finally came in today. Dad sent me picture (I'm at school)

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/184935cat.JPG

And for those of you who don't know, my car is sitting on jackstands in my driveway, John (Formula) helped me out with a gear swap (thank you again) but my carrier has issues, long story short need to get 2 bolts in that aren't going in. Got new bolts in from chevy today, they had the same problem. Tomorrow = using a tap on the holes to try and straighten out the threads. Once these are in it's good to go with the exhaust install, only one dilemma:

Orignally I was going to do 100% of my exhaust installation, but now I'm having second thoughts. If it was just catback I'm fine because that's so easy and I have access to a lift, I woulda taken it to get welded but still, wanted to at least do most myself.

With the cat I got tho (carsound, 3" in/out, universal i think 13 or 16 inches long) its shorter than stock so I'm guessing I'd have to have an exhaust shop rig up some sort of extension. Also I'm not sure about old cat removal/new cat installation at the Y pipe. Don't know I attempt it myself, or just take it in. If I take it in I can get the warantees too, so I guess that's a plus even though I want to do it myself.

oh and, I'll try to get sound clips of this muffler - no muffler - after. First thing's first and that's getting the car running.

Every day, a male co-worker walks up very close to a lady standing at
the coffee machine, inhales a big breath of air and tells her that her
hair smells nice.

After a week of this, she can't stand it anymore, takes her complaint
to a supervisor in the personnel department and states that she wants to write a sexual harassment grievance against him.

The Human Resources supervisor is puzzled by this decision and asks,
"What's sexually threatening about a co-worker telling you your hair
smells nice?"
The woman replies, "It's John, the Elf

OK, I try to start and maintain a SERIOUS thread for once. I didn't think that this was too much to ask for, but you no life assclowns (specifically cuda_dude, kaotikcamaro5, and robs71nova in this case) have to come in with your ceaseless immaturity and hijack the thread with your nonsense. I am personally offended that you have the lack of decency and respect that it takes for many of your acts. I truly hope the moderators take notice.

Second despite what I have read from some other members I strongly believe in welding. You can install the whole thing yourself rig it with hanger's and bring it to a shop to have it welded. Also many auto parts stores can sell you custom exhaust pieces to fit in place when your set up isn't fitting perfect. Just the weld should cost like $40-60. If you have them do the whole job who knows how much they will charge..

Thanks John. And guys I wasn't being too serious, BUT 2 pages of hijack is a little excessive I think you agree.

For instalation and welds of my cat ad caback I got the price of $64 from a friend who had it done, only thigns are I need the extension pobably from the cat to the catback (or y-pipe to cat, but i doubt they'd do it on that side), MIGHT need an extra hanger or two installed, and I have a post-cat O2 sensor in the s-pipe ( in between intermediate pipe and the cat) which I'd need to have a bung welded in for.

Anyone else have any input?

KaotiKCamaro5
01-28-2005, 09:18 PM
well.. i had my Magnaflow catback system installed for 50 bucks.. then my cat clogged.. so i had a buddy at an exhaust shop cut me a custom fit straight pipe with the bolt connection on one side for 5 bucks.. that way i didnt have to cut my system. Then we just lifted it and he let me weld it in myself (helps that we were in advanced metals and welding 101 together).

*for the record, 2 pages of hijacked thread is nothing.. thats a slow night for us. we've gone through threads as deep as 8 pages in night before with 3 people.. remember the bikini contest thread?? lol

OK tonight we finished the gears, got the new rim on and also my muffler is cut off (it made tapping the holes in the rear so much easier) (i want a dollar for each joke off that comment), so putting on the catback ASAP. for a few reasons i dunno if in gonna get the cat on yet.

sorry KC.. but i dont think its gonna make that big of a difference.. its still gonna be a thing of power.. you'll still hit that stage where you'll understand that without a turbo or supercharger, your car wont eat up on the newer modified v8's..
