Do Camaros have Posi?
Specifically, does the 97 V6 3.8 have it? :)

camaros that have it should have the G80 build code in the spid label, depending on year.

to start a heated debate... wasnt there a difference between posi and a limited slip? and if im right i dont think and camaros from 93+ had posi? also, i think the only V6 camaros that had the limited slip from the factory were the Y87's...

Quick question.. What is diff of limited slip vs posi?

Would a 94 z28 have posi?
I ask this because my cousin has a 94 z and he says that the posi in his car makes it hard for him to turn in autox and thats why hes so slow. However I don't believe that having posi or limited slip would dampen your cornering ability would it?
Edit: I'll check out the door for that build code.

So... whats the diff between posi and limited slip?

Posi and Limited slip are the same thing basically. Its more commonly referred to as limited slip now because the clutch packs/spings don't apply even power to both wheels. They apply slightly less power to wheels that has a loss of traction, Standard posi use to do this but not to the degree of the limited slips used today. check out this site for more info http://www.drivetrain.com/Powertrexfaq.html

Don't bother ,all 4th Gen V8's have posi and thats not whats hurting his cornering. His solid rear suspension is what hurting his cornering. Vette's, M3, Porshes all have limited slips and they can handle a track pretty friggin good. Although throw us a straight line or 1/4 and we will find a way to make it to the finish line first(we may throw our cousin the Vette a bone and let them win)

Ok so it's his solid rear suspension then? As in the solid rear axle or what else? I know a guy in a newer camaro (99 z) and he was always consistently near the top, being one of the fastest, on the autox course. Does the 99 have a different setup? Does the Vette have a multilink rear or solid also?
I'm just really at a loss as to why all these vettes and newer camaros are doing so well yet my cousin is so slow, although it might be due to the fact he is a bad driver.

I'm almost 100% sure all Camaros came with solid rear axles, at least for the later years. I don't know why your cousin isn't doing as well, he might just suck at driving autox.

JR, If a thread is ~1-2 months old, just make a completely new thread. If there is information in a previous thread you want to use just link the old thread in a new one.
6'ers don't have posi, Z's and SS's do, stock that is.
Locked. (secretly asks John or floating mod to lock)

This thread is extremely old. Its usually a better idea to start a new thread on the subject but I will answer anyway. No not all 92 - 02 F-body have posi or limited slip and I am not sure about stangs but I doubt they are all posi but that would be better answered in the Mustang forum. I am going to lock this sucker up now.
