VTEC's good for something....

For me this was too funny. But, some of you can take it how you want it...

You know my usual story. I got up to State St. in Orem. Nothing better to do tonight, so I figured I'd go for a cruise. Snow has melted, and the night was cold, but dry. Pretty nice night.

After a few cruises up and down state, the civic looked like it needed a swig of gasoline. So I pulled into the closest Chevron I could find (I only use Chevron for my baby :smile: )I pulled in and got out to swipe my card and pump some gasoline in. While doing so, this Ocean blue MX-3 comes rolling up to the pump next to me. White rims, fart can, and two of the biggest rednecks I've met to date (Poly and Neutrino could understand, they were from Spanish).

As I finish pumping gas, I am putting the gas cap back on, and one of the dudes comes up to me. Like literally approached me on my side of the car. Here's how our conversation went:

Me: "What's up?"
Hick: "What you got done to your Civ?"(trying to ask me in some sort of tough manner :rolleyes: )
Me: "Nothing special, just he usual bolt ons. Why do you ask?"
Hick: "I noticed you got the VTEC decal on the back of your car." (I put it there as a joke with some friends)
Me: "Yeah, is that supposed to mean something special?"
Hick: "Dude, that's f-ing weak. So what does that add, like 50 HP?" Then he showed a little smirk and walked back to his friends car stroking the top of my car. F-ing hick, don't ever touch my car.
Me: "I suppose your little bullet could smoke me too, huh?" He shot around, with a glare on his face. This caught his buds attention who was pumping gas.
Hick: "Man, this thing has wasted so many V8's, it's not worth my friends time to race your Ricemobile." Ricemobile? you should have seen their car. Not too sure about the V8 thing, but I'm not a Mazda Expert. ZOOM, ZOOM....
Me: "Well, lets take it to the strip, and we'll see..." I smirked and got in my car. Don't worry, I paid for my gas too.

They hopped in their car as soon as I pulled out. Seconds later they caught up to me on the left side. Hickboy was looking at my car, then glancing over at his friend. He turned back to me and tried to give me this tough look. For some reason, I knew they were in High School. Cocky little shits that don't know what they are doing.

We eventually caught ourselves a red light. I heard some shouting, and looked to my left. Once again, the stupid ass was saying something he didn't know about. I rolled down my window, and he was trying to talk smack. He was all like, "Yeah, we're gonna smoke you." He was already waving bye-bye and shit. Oooooohhhh, hardcore racer this guy was.

I just held my clutch in partially as I was prepared to launch while revving the Civic to 3500 RPMS. I was hoping to drown out that clowns jabbering, but no luck. Finally the light changed. We launched, and without a doubt, the race was easily mine. I jumped one car length in 1st. 2nd, I hit 60, 3rd brought it up to 80 and shut down, but of course to piss them off, I hit the Haz lights as I slowed down. I looked back and he was atleast 4-5 car lenghts behind.

We came to another light, and there was some traffic in front of us, but they pulled to my side. I knew it was coming.

Hick: "Hey man, nice race. What's your number man. We'll call you sometime and go race. Dude, man, that was cool." WTF, a few moments ago you were trying to give me shit, you beat V8's and you called my car a Ricemobile? Douche...but I didn't approach it like that.
Me: "What happened, I thought you were the V8 Killer?"
Hick: "Dude, why you being all messed up. Man, F**K YOU! I tried to give you props." Props, ha!
Me: "Whatever happened to all that shit you said at the gas station?"
Hick: "STFU!"
Me: "UUUWWWW, looks like VTEC is good for something, huh?" He hopped back in the car from hanging out the window. His friend revved his engine, both looking at me. We're still stopped at the light, now here's the best part. The freaking dope, let off the clutch, popped forward and nearly hit the car infront of them. :loser: Thus they stalled their car while jerking both of them forward.

The light changed green, they were still stalled and I gave them the thumbs up to thumbs down, and drove off laughing. I looked in my side mirror as traffic backed up behind the because they were trying to start their car. Oh, it was priceless. I gotta get some sort of camera hooked up to my car so you guys can actually see some of the idiots I meet. Nothing else happened that night, pretty much was the highlight of my week. :lol: Late...

Yeah..see...if some dumb son of a bitch put a finger on my car I'd have to let him know right there he was starting to head out of bounds. I've dealt with alot of shit talking..mostly from imports who like them..think their car is a V8 smoking rocket. But, it sounds like they were being quite hostile. I can generally accept a certain amount of cockiness..but that was flat out insulting. So I probably would have told him to get his hands off my car and take a couple steps back before he wishes he never would have even approached me. And shit dude...a VTEC sticker really isn't that bad. Just one? If you actually have a VTEC motor that isn't so bad..it's gettin' there..but yeah. To his "So what does that add, like 50 HP?" comment I would have replied with "No, stupid...it adds 100hp..don't you know shit about cars?" I'm glad you won. Good job at showing some shit talkers where they are on the foodchain.

lol good race man, me personally i would have been a really big asshole to them after the race. Those mazda M3's arent much either. I saw one running at the track last summer, mid to low 16's.

yea i hate it when shit talkers get away..like one time i was with my friend in his older corolla and he has full exhaust and intake,well there was this late 90s corolla 5 speed with crome taillights and all that stuff, so after flashin the hazards a few times and revvin a lil bit he gets next to us and says " you think that thing can hang with me", in a complete cocky manner as hes throwin up his arms,then he downshifts as my friend is about to say yea wanna go? and he takes off and my friend has no time to react.

the other 95 civics didn't come with VTEC... i used to own a 96 accord (94-97gen) and the only ones that came with vtec was the EX-R and that never made it to the US. hey the 2005 civic my girl has doesn't have vtec and its the EX modle. only civics to get vtec is the SI

Treefrog, if you read in his first post, Civic stated he put the sticker on the back of his car as a joke to his friends, plus, if my memory serves me well, he has a swap done too.

Nah, I didn't do a swap, but I plan on it when this motor dies out.

As for Treefrog. My 95 Civic EX is VTEC. Look it up, the D16Z6 is vtec. That's the motor I have in my Civic. That's how they come. Stock too. Well except for a few bolt-ons. Accords are a different story compared to Civics. Not completely different, but you get what I'm trying to say. Trust me do a little research.

I'll give you a little bit of the specs on it.

D16Z6 Motor:
125 HP
Single Over Head Cam VTEC= SOHC VTEC
Redline: 7200 RPMS
Vtec engagemeent: 5500 RPMS

As for now, I have Intake and Exhaust w/ an Apexi VAFC. I'll take pictures of some of the mods I'm going to put in as well. I can't wait. heehee. Late...

ALL 94-97 accords were available in DX/LX trim with the f22b2 SOHC non-Vtec engine w/130 hp
the EX trim came with the f22b2 SOHC VTEC engine with 140hp
not big difference but it had VTEC nonetheless

:1: :lol: . Granted it isn't a turbo, but during the higher rpm stages, VTEC does come in handy considering what I have. It does give you that little extra pull and it does make up for some difference in a street race. I may not completely blow away the competition by car lengths, but it gives the slight edge over opponent. That's why I got the VAFC to engage it at an earlier stage of rpm level.

If you read the entire story you would know that it was a joke, and I was giving the driver and his friend shit for opening their mouths. They were being cocky, so I made a remark back to the passenger who was a complete ass. Late...

Yeah, the engineers at honda didn't make those engines with VTEC just because it "sounded cool"...all valve timing is functional.
