New steering shaft.Does it work??

I have been reading mixed reviews on this new revised intermediate steering shaft.I have an 01 and I have so far regreased the shaft twice in 10k. I got a call from the dealer and they said that they recieved a new shaft for my truck..I have read that even the new style shaft has the same clunking problem ..How many of yous have the revised unit?? And does it eliminate the clunking? And What is the difference between the new and old style shafts?? And can the older shafts be fixed somehow..I guess that the best way to determine would be to have the two side by side for comparison..Did GM completely redesign a new shaft or alter the existing ones?? I hate to lose my truck for a day at the dealer when I myself can relube it in a 1/2 hour. Any of you gm techs care to chime in ??Thanks in advance for any info

I am not a tech and cannot comment on the differences in design, but I did just get mine replaced. I can tell you that so far the new shaft seems much better than when I had regreased it previously.
