changing trans fluid, how much?

Im going to be changing the transmission fluid and filter on a 1995 oldsmobile Silhouette 3.8L 4-speed auto (4t60) and im going to drop the pan to change fluid. my question is after i drop the pan, drain fluid, intsall new filter and put pan/gasket back togethor. How many quarts of tranny fluid do i put in the tranny? (not drain torque converter, just droppin pan)

Shop manual says:
Drain and Refill: 6 qt.
After complete overhaul: 8 qt.

Measuring what you remove may be a good bet.
