Do to recent unfortunate events my vehicle was broken into and stolen.. however the theives took a few things and the police found it. For some reason they thought the ebay air-filter I had was worth money and took that.
My question is, I plan on getting a new air-filter... but can I drive the car without one? Will this damage engine internally from particles in the air? How long can I drive my car without one? I've been driving the car for about 4 days without one already... should I change the oil? My vehicle is a 99 RS with >110k on it.

There was just a thread on this please search. Also please add your year and model into you sig.
As for your question, I would not drive it like that for long. For a short period of time it will be fine just dont go driving though any dirt roads and puddles. And if you live in a place where it snows and there is salt on the ground I would be very cautious.

i wouldnt run it on the road at all without an air filter. put back on the stock airbox if you still have it.

Thanks for the replies guys... sorry for not searching. I guess I'll have to put one on asap. And I do drive around in an area where it snows and salt no the road... I really don't have no choice since it's my commute car, daily driver.

around here autozone and pepboys both have cheap universal filters. anything is better then no filter, even if you just go to a junkyard and get a stock filter. you wouldnt beleive how much crap gets sucked into the air filter. BTW yes it would be a good idea to change the oil soon too

Thx again... I'll take a trip to autozone and pepboys tomorrow and pick up a cheap universal one.

Depending on how long you drive around without one, you may want to clean your MAS as well. Disconnect it and clean it out of the car to make things easier on yourself. Use electrical contact cleaner, not carb cleaner which will leave a film.
