lowered 2000 tahoe

i have a 2000 tahoe limited (old body style) i am planning on lowering it but all the kits for old body style are 92-99 and the 2000-up kits are for new body stylye......just wondering if i am going to have any problems by ordering the kit for a 92-99 model

appearantly i have stumped everyone........i cant seem to get a straight answer on this question...

I hear your problem...I just get freustrated when I have to tell someone what year my Limited is because if you say 2000, you automaticlly think the new body style. I just for all purposes think of my Limited as a 99 when dealing with parts. That is basically what it is if you think about it.
Oh and by the way...HOW COOL IS IT TO HAVE THE LIMITED...non-stop compliments my friend.
What kind of wheels are you planning on putting on?

You have a great ride in the z71 Tahoe...I think these two particular Tahoes are very eye catching to the public. I see a lot of tahoes on the road that are basically the same as ours, except your off-road stance and my street stance really add to the mystery of our SUVs. Even though I have a 2x4. I took off my tiny tires that came stock and I added 265/75/R15s by BF-Goodrich All Terrain, which gives the Limited a very strong look, but I want more.
I am trying to see what the biggest size I can fit on her, without too much rubbing. I heard 33s are a possibility but I am not too sure. Anyways, just wanted to say hi...

My winter tires are BFG All-Terrains... they are 32"s and I dont have any rubbing at all. They sure do give the truck a whole new look!

Everyone around here has some type of BFG's.... its crazy. Im thinking about buying some stock in the company:) I actually have a '79 bronco that came with Mud-Terrains. I loved the tire but didnt want anything that meaty for a daily driver so I went with the All Terrains. I really have no idea as far as the ratings go

Say your working with a 265/75/16
The first number (265) is the width in mm. The second number (75) means that 75% of the width (265mm) is your sidewall height from wheel to top of tread, and of course the last number (16) is the diameter of the wheel, or tire opening.

The only difference is that one is measured metric, and one is measured in inches. There is no limit as to how far a metric tire size can go before you start counting in inches, especially when your talking about car tires. Like a viper has 355/30/18 I think. But in an off road tire, the widest i've seen is a 325.... It all depends on the tire manufacturer, and how they want to measure their tires.

So you cant just go off of the first #, because if you went with a smaller middle number it would just decrease the height of your overall tire diameter by decreasing sidewall height. Hope this helps.

I just have 265/75/16 A/T's on mine.... I also have 295/35/24's too, but i'm trying to get rid of those... They came on the truck when i bought it, and they're not my style, but i will be going to a 285/60/18 nitto terra grappler, which is about the same size as my 265/75/16 A/T's.

Here is a website that i found to compare different tire sizes and it tells you alot of info in inches on the left. I know its on a miata page :grinno: but its the best one i have ever found.

just got my new rims and tires....going to lower it as soon as i find a good kit.........i put status legend 20x9 wheels with 255/40/20 nitto 420...they are 28 inches tall overall....going to lower it 3/4 to start with
