Need help on combo headlight switch wiring

OK, I've read posts about this here but now its happened to me.
My headlights went out but I still have DRLs. I unpluged the combo switch from the fuse box and one of the wires has shorted and has almost burned the spade off in the fuse block. The wire that shorted is the white with black stripe. does anyone have a wiring diagram for the combo switch? Also with the spade in the fuse block burned, how is the best way to fix this. Can I wire around the fuse box with this one wire?
One more thing, I bought a used combo switch off e-bay and it had the same wire burned. What causes this problem?

Can't help you much on what caused the problem, but I had a similar problem with an 89 Metro. I found the detailed wiring diagram for the fuse block in the reference room at my local library.
