how to fab a air filter

I am in the process of building a '67 GTX and I really want to facricate one of the round Air filter that looks like a K&N round filter taht goes on muscle cars. If anyone knows how to do this or can give me some tips that would be great. I want it to look just like this one.....

Styrene strips...it would actually be fairly easy.

There are some kits out there that actually contain an air filter in that shape.

what color paint should i use to get the color right on the actual filter?? It looks kind of like a pinkish color almost...any suggestions

Custom mix it by eye, it shouldn't be difficult :)
