Hey i drive a 2000, and I cant quite figure out what this stuff is on my headlamps. It looks lke there was a protective covering over it and te sun has melted it or i dunno. Its not thick or anything just a very thin layer but you can tell its there. It makes the light look bad even tho i have high power bulbs. Anyone got any ideas?

Might be that there was a protective film on it when it was shipped, and never taken off. If that is the case your Fucked! it does some serious damage to the plastic. Do you still have a warenty on the car? If so it should still be coverd!

Yeah, my 00GT has the same deal. Its like the headlight is flaking off, but wont do it if you try to get it off...pain in the ass. Im getting HALO headlights soon, so that will fix it. I found an ebayer who is selling for like under 300$...will let you guys know how they look when i get them.

the film thats on our headlight assemblies isnt clouding up, its actually peeling off. that stuff wont work on something thats peeling off.

what about wet sanding it with 2000 grit sandpaper? I heard it works via other forum discussions. I have the same problem with my 2000.

This post is like a year old...and no. There is no way to fix this problem. Buy new headlights.

no that won't work. look at it like this.....if you paint something, and two years down the road the paint starts to peel off. will wetsanding it cause the paint to stop peeling? will the wetsanding make the paint come back? nope. buying new headlights is about the only way unless you want to recoat them
