New CV boots...

Ok this is the last of my "car trouble" threads...

The problem: My car clicks when I turn sharp in the front...my CV's leak oil...

The question: I have an idea of how to change the boots myself...should I try it myself if I have never done something like this before? Also how much do they usually run for a '96 Civic Ex?

What's the closest thing you've done to a thing like this, and how readily do you think you will have access to the necessary tools?

But just for what it's worth, if you have even one other person helping out, it's really not all bad. It can range from 2-5 hours depending on the help, the tools, and any of those little snags that can come up. And I did it on the same car, so I know the rutine quite well.

If your CV joints are clicking rebooting is a waste of time because the joints are bad. Your best off replacing the whole axle which is much easier, cleaner, and about the same price as inner/outer boot kit.

Either way boot replacement or axle replacement the axle needs to come out. That means removing the axle nut which can be a pain if air tools are not available.

If you really want to do your own work buy a Honda repair manual from www.helminc.com don't settle for Shitlons or Haynes.
