Question about throwout bearings...

I used to have a '93 Civic EX...when I bought the car it had a bad throwout bearing (so the dude said) basically in like 1st-3rd it made a really loud rattling noise from like 1-3k RPM...anyway I had a new clutch put in it (throwout bearings are included in clutch kits) and the sound never stopped...well it turned out the car had LOTS of problems with it....I wouldnt doubt if it was chopped...like a '92 rear and '94 front..so they just called it a '93? Haha..
Anyway..so now I have a '96 Civic Ex..well like a month ago it started making the same rattling noise in lower gears...someone told me it was the throwout bearing and that I need a new clutch...also in idle it rattles but if I put my foot on the clutch (disengaged) it stops the noise....my question is..If I get a new clutch it shouldn't make the noise anymore right?
Thanks in advance..

99.9% it's not the throwout bearing, it's the input shaft bearing which is inside the case. Trans must be removed and taken apart to gain access. This will not be a cheap fix, figure about 7hrs of labor + parts.

I'm not sure what the labor rates are in your area but we charge $67.00 per hour while the Honda dealership I worked for now charges $98.00 per hour multiply that by 7hrs. Add in the cost of the bearing which is about $60.00 plus seals and fluid. Your looking at least $500.00 minimum unless you do it yourself and I highly recommend leaving it to the pros unless you have taken apart a manual trans.
It might be cheaper to swap in a used or rebuilt trans.
If your not sure what a manual trans looks like inside, here's an idea http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual/2gsm/images/91-13-8.jpg the bearing i'm talking about is located in the bottom left hand corner 2nd arrow above the word replace.

but if its consistent with in and out of the clutch, then i suppose its not

i dont have a heat shield...i took it off when i put on my header...besides im positive its a clutch/tranny problem..it only makes noises when the clutch is engaged
