Didn't want to hi-jack the other fuel pump thread. SO here it goes. I have a 99 Denali. When switched from off to ignition you can hear the fuel pump kick on. It's constantly running @ about 20 DB much louder than any other Vehicle I have owned. Is this a sign that it's going bad? Or is this just a high pressure fuel pump and just really noisy?

Noise is no indication of the condition of the pump..some are loader than others.
I have a 99 Suburban that has a fuel pump so loud you can hear it from inside the house

Could it possibly be the ABS pump?

Wait a minute... are you saying the pump constantly runs, and doesn't stop after it gets up to pressure?? I'm thinking you just mean it is running loud all the time, not varying in sound at all. I agree with Merlin if this is the case. I have heard quite a few loud ones myself. The new one I had put in my 98 Hoe last spring seems louder than the original that went at 150K mi.
If there are no other irregualrities like hard starting, stalling ocaisonally, or gas guage that is acting up, I wouldn't worry about it...
