crushed 1g bov with low boost?

I searched and found a few threads on crushed 1g's but only about how great they are for high boost!

Basically I found a deal on a 1g bov off ebay and bought it. When it got here I realized that in my quick and hasty actions I didn't catch the fact that it was crushed. Will this still work with low boost (6-8 psi) or are they limited to higher boost since they are modified?

I read about how to crush one but I have no way of knowing if this one was done correctly. There arn't any cracks and it seems to be alright but is there any other ways to tell?

If anybody has a regular 1g bov and would like this one I'd be glad to trade because I really don't want to mess with it. Thx!

It does look like they cruhsed it quite a bit. If it doesnt make any fluttering or surging sounds it will be ok. If you want to test it just use a Mighty Vac or similar (one man brake bleeder, about 20-30 bucks at autoparts stores). Pull a vacuum on it, hold it up to the light, and note at what point the valve just cracks off the seat. 18-19"/hg is ideal, at about 20 the valve starts to get a lot noiser (not opening easily enough). How much vac you want can also depend on how much vac you are pulling. The above applies to stock cams pretty much. With aftermarket cams you get lower vac, and will need less pressure required to open the BOV (less crushing). I would just install it and see if it appears to be working normally, if it doesnt, measure how much vac it takes to open it as decribed above.
