This one guy at school wants to race me in his focus. I wasnt sure if i would be able to win because u kno how gay domestics always have their torque. I looked up focuses and this guy has a SE, which i think is 130hp and 137or something torque. He has an exhaust, large mass air flow censor and changed gear ratios. I have a stock integ. Both cars are automatic. Do you think i would stand a chance? He said he has the focus ztec thing, i guess thats some kind of wannabe vtec. I have no idea, i dont know anything about domestics. what do you guys think will be the end results, cuz i dont want to race and lose to a focus, that would be embarrasing.

well i have done this before. I raced a focus with my LS. I had at the time skunk2 intake manifold, short ram, and a 50sht of NOS. O yeah falken azenas. I had to hit the NOS right out of first gear. With them tires i just locked and went. I took him buy like a car. So if you don't have the NOS or some major up grades you may not win. It's realy about the driver. good luck

I don't think that the focus was stock then, because I rode in a friends focus and I consider it one of the guttless cars I have ever been in. MAybe b/c it was an automatic but still way slow. Actually I have even raced a focus SVT and really it was quite quick but I still beat him by close to 2 car lengths. I would say that if it is just a stock Focus SE and that Integra is stock and a 5 speed you should have no problem winning. That is if you are a good driver ;)

He has an automatic, doesn't take much skill to drive that. Press on pedal and go?
Ford Focus SE = 136hp Torque= 133
LS = 142hp Torque= 127 ( this is if you have a g3 teg)
I don't know the weight of either off the top of my head. Just race and see who wins.

Which car is an auto, the integra or the focus? If the Integra is an auto and the focus is an manual then the focus might come out the winner and vise versa.

from what I'm looking at.. the focus SE has 110hp and 125tq. If this is the case.. I think the teg will win definitely.

Teg wins...easily...I had this race w/ a '92 LS vs. '02 Focus...both 5-speed...I was playin with him while he was flooring it, and then decided to leave him and the Cavalier, who was also racing, behind me.

yes both cars are automatic. I was driving behind him one day and i noticed the SE label. He would have changed it but i dunno why he would do that. He said he has ztec, which i dunno if the SE model has, n e one know?? He has more torque so he would prolly beat me off the line, but do u think he would stay ahead. I was thinking that i would beat him at top end, cuz my redline is prolly more then his. Whats the redline at on a focus?? but then again, would his redline changes since he changed his gear ratios?

no. gear ratios have nothing to do with where your redline is

i think ima go and race this guy. Hes always tryin to show off and always revs his engine in front of me. He needs to be tought a lesson, not to mess with a teg, lol. Ill keep u posted on results. If his car is 110 hp 125 lbs then i would definately win, like 2 cars

Your car is faster than his. But if he's a better driver than you, he definitely has an advantage.

focus SVT that is what i raced, but i don't know if it was stock. he told me it was. all he keep saying is what do you have in there, there is no way that car is beating this one. so i don't know what he had.

I had an unmodified 89 4door automatic. I raced a guy who had a 2002 zx3 with a custom exhaust, manual. I never even floored it and stayed nose to nose. He was a good buddy of mine and his car was new, so I didn't want to make him feel bad. We called it a tie. Unless this guy's mods are extensive, you should be fine. But you, the longer the track the better shape you're in.

I have a friend with a 1993 Nissan 240sx. He raced a fellow that owned a 2003 ford focus zx3 that had put about $2,500 into the car, between mods and exterior modifications. My friend's 240 was recently rebuilt, but it was the stock motor. The gentleman in the focus had a complete exhaust system, headers, pipes, and no cat. He also had intake, and just some upgraded ignition parts. Then the rest of the money went to the body kit, and gauges in the car (it was a bit.... over the top for me) Anyway, the conclusion of the race is that my friend's 240 (he had been driving the car for about 4 months at this time, first car he's ever driven too) completely and utterly destroyed the focus, and both cars were manuals. End of the race, bout 75 to 80 mph, he was a solid 5 cars on him. They tried again on the highway, 60mph roll, and the 240 beat him even worse. I can beat my friend in his 240 with me in my GSR. I have completely lost all respect that I have ever had for focus's and their Ztech. It was incredibly slow for what he had done to the car. I hold my belief that focus's are lemons, you can't do crap to make them fast, or at least it takes way too much money to make it practical to do so. I would not be suprised if you beat this guy with the focus.

i think we're gonna race down this long empty road. Longer then 1/4 mile, so i think i got the advantage there. Also i dont think the winner of the race would be dependent on who ever is the better driver. Pushing the gas all the way doesnt require any skill, its just the matter of the car. But thanks for all your input, make me feel more confident, lol.
P.S.- looking for coilovers, any good websites where i can find them cheap??
