oil pressure?

yeah at startup it runs 60 which is fine during running its usually anywhere from 65-45 depending on how hot the motor is but at idle when real hot the pressure can drop at idle anywhere from 15-20 is that safe u think?? also how long is it ok to run open headers??? ive heard some stuff about it being bad

oil pressure is dependent on RPM's, how long the car has been running and weight of oil being used. As long as its not in the red zone of either side, your fine and as for your second questions. Open exhaust is used by some at the track or on seldome used cars that don't have to see much street use of pass emissions but you can just as easily use cut outs or block off plates. Anyway I don't believe in using open exhaust for anything other than a dragster anyway cause the complete lack of back pressure can actually cost you more power than you will gain.

the open headers isnt by option its by choice full length headers wasnt a smart idea now i have to run to the custom shop. beleive me i have to drive 15 min. extra on top of the awful backpressure of open headers to get to work on backroads and run up the highway. full lenght on an 86 is well :nono: there shouldnt be any damage the engine has less than 10k on it its rather brand new and roller cam. just loud as hell and annoying

I had to do that run to the exhaust shop to get the headers welded on my LT1 and yes that is going to be one loud mother but cops are usually pretty understanding when they pull people over with the exhaust sitch and no a short spirt like that will not cause any damage
