What one Ford Explorer Can do

Well lets begin the story of how I went from happy go lucky to really really upset. I was travelling down the right side of a 4 lane road, 2 lanes one way and 2 the other. I was travelling to the gym to work out after a long day of work. Having been the first time in a week that I had gotten out of work earlier then 9 oclock I was excited that I might actually get to work out today. Anyways, so there I was driving away listening to the new Gwen Stefani CD going about 35 miles an hour, which is great because the speed limit was 35, actually going the speed limit for once. Well the all along this street there are no left turn signals, so in order to turn left you have to yeild and wait for an opening. Well the left lane on my side was backed up pretty bad with alot of people waiting to turn left onto a busy intersection so I jumped in the right lane where there wasn't anyone going straight. Well, I think everything's fine until I come into the intersection only to see for a short moment in time a 91 Explorer coming at my car. Well, having been in accidents before and one more recently (5 months ago) and also realizing the speed at which I was moving and at which the explorer was moving I knew that i couldn't do anything about what was about to happen. Well come to find out me and Explorer collided, turns out that the Explorer (from now on known as retard) was coming in the opposing direction and was waiting to make a left. Seeing no one in the right oncoming lane and after having been waiting for some time she, the retard, decided it was safe to go. Now by my own account I didn't see her either because of the cars pulled out into the intersection waiting to make a left but she's still a retard and I defiently had the right-of-way. Well, needless to say she didn't see me, whether it be the combined effects of my car having coilovers and being low to the ground or hers being so much higher (she had a 6in lift with tires...) and the cars in the way, she hit me, went up on top of my hood and my car trasferred enough force to turn her around in the opposite direction. Well needless to say the damage is extensive, when she came up onto the car she crushed in the whole front driverside bumper and the force caused my carbon fiber hood to fly right off, apparently as one eye witness said, that as soon as she had collided with me, it seemed as if the hood went flying off about 20 ft into the air, landed about 15 feet behind my car and almost hit traffic behind me still waiting to turn left. That last picture is my hood in my passenger side seat with my deployed air bags. After we hit I was able to climb outta my car as I forced the doot open, walk over the the corner of the road. My car was still in the middle of the intersection, seemingly stopped from the impact, she had turned the opposing direction now my direction and managed to DRIVE her car into a parking lot nearby. I walked to the corner on my own power until I sat down and was immediately swamped with eye witnesses asking if i was ok. Shortly thereafter (not to sure when) the fire department arrived, as did the Paramedics. While i was being carried onto the ambulance the police arrived long enough to get some eye witnesses names. I was unable to walk on my own power for about 30 minutes. I was taken to a nearby emergency room where i was treated and released shortly with some soft tissue bruising on my lefts and torso. I have a swollen tongue where I bite my lip on the impact and a 1.5 in gash on my forhead from my visor. Oh yeah, this all happened yesterday. and as it looks right now looks like i'm gonna get a new car soon, any suggestions anyone?

Just thought i'de post this up here, it makes me said to lose my car, I loved it so much, nothing like dropping it in 3rd on the highway and taking off, so much fun, but this only means that i'll have to buy a new one and build onto that one myself again. I'm thinking it will be declared totalled so i'm preparing for that by looking to find a new car, so if anyone has any good websites i'de appreciate it, or knows anyone. I would love to get a new teg to play with, preferrably one llike this one. I hope you guys take it easy out there cause the pain of losing your "baby" doesn't go away very easily. Funny part is that I wasn't speeding or actually doing anything wrong, just chillin and listening to my sounds and just taking in life. So sad..

Thankfully I didn't get those headers yet, or man I would have been pissed. If it's declared a total loss i'm cutting the intake and exhaust out along with the shifter. :) After all I bought them and i'm gonna use them.

that is such a bummer... that car was nice... i hope you find another one and keep it as clean as that one!

P.S. women shouldn't be allowed to drive SUV's

Its alright, I think I may be getting a Type R from a guy up in New York as I type, I'm already trying to set up a time that I can drive up and check it out

sorry to hear that... makes me not want to take mine out on the road where some dumbass can hit me. i found that if they just smash my back corner panel, my car will be total'd even if the damn thing is still drivable. it would cost more just to replace my back corner panels then the car is worth.
to me my car is like my child. it is pricless.

Sorry to hear that man.. your car looked really clean. I was in an accident with an 18-wheeler that totalled my '91 Toyota Pickup. Needless to say, I got enough money from that to get my Celica :)
