well guys bad news the problems with my geo have been narrowed down to the piston rings now i have to decide if i should try to fix it myself or take it somewhere i am good with older cars havent worked to much with newer stuff with electronics and the such can you buy new rings and all the gaskets and everything you will need or maybe i could get a new engine anyone know if you can buy a brand new engine (probably cant) or if maybe there is another engin i could put in beside a geo that would bolt up to the tranny or what i dont know what to do

Go to ebay and buy one of those Japanese inported engines. I have bought and installed several and they have really worked out well. They supposidly are low milage engines and they sell for $400 to $500 (including shipping).

I put rings in mine and it is very easy, however, for the same ammount of work if you can afford a japanese engine,I would go ahead and do the new engine in it.They are pressure tested and guaranteed for like 2 years or 24,000 or something like that

I rebuilt my entire engine for the fuel economy and I will say it is SO easy that if you had the parts and 5 free days, anyone could about tackle a 3cyl rebuild and worth it I might add. Before the rebuild I was getting 26MPG and using a quart of oil every 100 miles!!
