i have an alpine 6cd changer. whenever i load and insert the magazine into the changer it doesnt even pull and read each disc. the 'finger' that pulls the CDs in just goes next to each of the the CDs then advances to the next so it comes up with a reading of 'empty'on all the disc. what could be wrong?

maybe a sensor in the changer that tells it when a disk is in there is broken. Or maybe the "finger" is broken, so it thinks it's pulling out the CD, when its actually not, so when the "finger" thinks it pulls a CD out, and the laser tries to read it, it comes up as empty cuz there is technically not a CD in front of the laser

i opened it ad looked at it whiwas moving and the fingr is there and it dosnt even pull the cd to where it can be read by the laser.

yeah, so maybe the mechanism that pulls the CD out is broken. Because it's obviously getting power (because it says empty, and the thing moves), its obviously not the laser (because the CD doesn't even get a change to get read by the laser), Does your CD changer have a reset button, because maybe it got screwed up and you just gotta reset it. like when your computer goes all whacko, and all you gotta do is restart it.

I have a question: You have this changer put in. Is your receiver the stock receiver?

i bought the car with it installed but the alpine appears to be aftermarket installed. i do have the stock head unit

So the changer is not stock but the head unit is. What is the part # of the changer? I am trying to put a changer in but don't want to mess with anything elso so I'd like it to be compatible with the stock Alpine head unit. Thanks.
