95 4runner wiper switch malfunctioning?

Various things have been gradually malfunctioning which are all related to the switch on the steering column that controls the front and rear wipers, wiper speed, and washer fluid.

The slowest speed of the front wiper does not work, however the 2 fastest speeds still do operate correctly. Everything else on that lever does not work, inlcuding rear washer/wiper, intermintent speed knob for front wiper, and front washer squirters.

On the other side of the column, the headlights, brights, flash all work correctly.

Do I need to replace the whole switch unit? If so, how do I get the steering wheel off? I have dismantled about as far as it looks it can go and took the large nut off the the steering column and the steering wheel won't budge.

Am i on the right track? Please help.

Did you check all your fuses inside and under hood????

Use testlight at plug to switch(still plugged in) you want to check and see if you can get a light when you select the function that is inop....if it does not light testlight then most likely switch is bad.
To remove steering wheels on most vehicles you will need a puller(they are press fit)...most time refered to as a crows foot and this should be used with large nut in place loose so it can straighten out any damage on threads that might occur
