Cheap/Reliable web server

I'm looking for a fairly cheap yet reliable web server. I don't need anything crazy, it's just a web page for the band I'm in. It's going to be mostly just html, small Flash files (intro and site menu), and images (nothing too huge or too many). And we'll probably put up a few short mp3 clips of some songs, maybe a basic messageboard. Probably need 4 or 5 e-mail addresses for the site. And I'd prefer something that supports ASP (Active Server Pages), but it's not necessary. I've got a book that will teach me how to do ASP, and it's just sitting there collecting dust (it'd be something I'd have to learn, so it's not definently needed).
My bro probably has some good recommendations on where to look, but I haven't talked to him this week. And I might have to add a few other things to the list that I'll need after talking to him (he's into web administration and security classes so I'm sure he'll help me a lot).
Any ideas or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

go to www.ionhosting.com . they have by far the best prices, service, and reliability. there are cheaper companies out there but i know for a fact that they don't match up with ionhosting. i've been with them for about 5 years and it hadn't crashed once.

That looks really good, and I'd rather go with something that someone else is using. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

www.lowesthosting.com i've been with them 2 years. i had trouble with bandwidth consumption everywhere i went. so far so good with them and i'm up around 225,000 hits i do believe.
they are $4.95/mo and you get your own dot.com name. they also have the yourname.com e-mail addy included

Honestly I'm not really sure how much space I need. The site that we've got up now (on one of those free servers), we're using 892kb. But we're limited on the file size we're allowed to upload, so you aren't able to put up stuff we'd like to. We'll probably want to add 3-4 3mb mp3's, then the addition of the messageboard, mailing list, and e-mail addresses (if that even adds to the web space). So I guess I'd say 15-20mb of space, but I think 20mb would be pushing it. But bandwidth is a big concern of mine. Some months we'll probably have almost no traffic, but others we might have a ton (playing the mp3's). So that's where I'm pretty much clueless on.
Also I'm wondering if it matters how far away the server is from here. Like since I'm in NY; if I got hosted by a place in Cali would the server be slower here than a state closer to Cali? Pretty much anyone who will be looking at the site is going to be from the Central New York area. So if the speed will be effected, maybe I should look for some place that is set up closer to here?
The guitarist for the band is the one who is going to be paying for all of this (I'm just the "webdesigner"), so when I talk to him tomorrow I might have some more info. I'll be able to talk to my bro tomorrow night too. I look at it like a cellphone contract. I don't want a plan that will give me too much space, where I'll pay a more expensive price. But I also don't want too small of a plan where I'll be getting overages every month or 2. (Damn I hate cellphones for corrupting my mind.)

my server is in canada, and i live in florida and it's very fast loading my website :) So if you in NY, it'll probably run even faster for you. Here's a deal.
For $10 a month i'll give you:
- 100 megs of space
- Unmetered Bandwidth (never have to worry about using up too much bandwidth and paying for it later)
- As many emails as you need (you can setup the amount of space each email account has, so space would be your only limit)
- Webmail, php and asp support, you can setup forums, have people download mp3s, pics, whatever
- You'll be able to load files of any size, and if you need more than 100 megs i can bump it up to 150 or 200 when you expand
and if you need help setting up some forums or anything like that, i can do that for you as well. I'm very flexible, so let me know whatcha think :)
