Can you freeze a battery

Ive got an Ericsson A2618 cell phone.
Quiet often (once every 2-3 days) when I get a txt message it drains all the battery power out of it, even if its fully charged itll come down that far that the attention battery low sign comes up.
Ive tried draining it right down and charging it over night, it dont seem to help.
A friend of mine has the same phone and he told me this.
Remove the battery from the phone and put it into a ziptop sealable bag, put it in the freezer for 3 hours, wait for it to return to room temperature, put back in the phone.
This is supposed to fix it but it seems like itd stuff it to me, Ive checked up and a new battery is $129 but to buy the phone new is $129 so its not worth it.
Ive had it around a year and originally paid $200 for it. Ive really got nothing to lose but Id like some opinions otherwise ill just go and buy a new/better phone

I know I had a car battery freeze once. It never worked since.

try to get another type! one of the T series or 688 or 888 !those are the most reliable ones ! :D

Id say ill probably buy a new phone, it wont be the same model, that would seem like spending all that money and nothing being different.
If I do itll be a better one, it was good when I bought it but technology improves things in a year, I want vibrate mode and to be smaller

My Nokia 3210 has a similar issue - 48 hours on standby and the battery is dead. SMS seems to drain it and using it gives me maybe 30 minutes before it dies. 3 notches down and a 5 minute call and it's rooted. My old 5110 lasted forever and my 7y.o. motorolla went for days without draining.
Dunno if I'd put the battery in the freezer though :D

If you are going to buy a new phone anyway......why not try freezing it?sounds like it's gonna be dumped anyways......
I've heard of people freezing car audio units to disable security code chips,but freezing batteries is a new one on me...If you plan to dump it anyway,you have nothing to lose!
