metal grinding noises

on my 98 ford tarus after i went over a curb in a parking lot the passenger side's front tire makes a sound that is like two metal peaces grinding togethor. This noises happens in nutural, and reverse. I think it might have something to do with the CV joint, but i hear that is more of a popping noise. if you have any info. i would be more than thankfull for your input.

I would jack it up so the front wheels are off the ground and turn them to see what you hear. Take a look under to see that the axles turn straight and listen to either side to see if it is something scraping or rubbing on the brakes. There are lots of things to look at under there but be careful not to let it fall on you.
