Gsx Bov

I just bought a 1996 eclipse gsx and it has a 1g BOV on it and you can barely hear it. I was thinking about getting a new one for it. i was thinking of going with either a HKS SSQ or a Greddy Type-S. I was wonder which of this 2 has a better sound too it. Cuz when that coffee can ricers pull up too me i wanna just blow that off to shut them up. So let me know what you guys think.

do you have a hard intake pipe? the 1g bov will be plenty loud enough if you have hard pipes.

no i dont have hard intake piping

if you get a hard pipe and have a crushed 1g bov it will sound just like a hks ssqbov, the car i am about to buy has this set up and i couldnt believe that it was just the stock bov

here this looks cheap enough and make that bov sound nice without running pig rich durring shifts

will it make it louder if i disconnect the small tube going from the bov back to the engine or will it hurt anything by doing that?

Do you mean the vacuum line? Yeah you kinda need that or it wont work! Can you say bye bye turbo?

A 1g crushed bov is basically a bov that is well... crushed. If its done right it enables it to hold higher amounts of boost (over 25 or 30 psi in some cases).

but like they said before get some hard i/c pipes and it will make it louder, and add a few horses. peace

There is no bov that can stop you running pig rich between shifts. You need a GM MAF and MAF translator for that.

Don't be a ricer and disconnect anything to make your car louder. I like HKS sound better if you have to decide based on that. Like said, hard intake piping will make it louder, as will an air filter if you have the stock airbox connected. If a CRUSHED 1g sounds anything like a non crushed, it's not an HKS sound. More like a RFL sound, like air through plastic.

Well, to be fair, you can also use HK$ VPC, AEM EMS, or any other "standalone." :) But MAFt is the easiest and cheapest route, and lets you use it in conjunction with the almighty DSMlink, for a decent price.

a hard intake with K&N cone filter, or injen intake will make it echo louder vs the rubber.

when i first got my turbo spyder, i did the dump tube hack, and the BOV noises and spooling was much, much louder, enough to draw attention. the bov nosie (still had stock bov back then) was loud, but instead of a whistle it was a huge WHOOOSHH sound.

yeah i put my type s on and it loud i still have the stock piping but it is loud and hell and the turbo spools way faster than it did. and it now spikes to 20 psi. Now my car pulls way harder in the higher rpms now.
