K a friend of mine has a 91 Honda Prelude 2.0 SI and he wants to race my 2001 2.4 Z24... we both have 5 speed manuals

His mods: (he says he has them)
short ram intake
Cat back exhaust
bigger fuel rail with stock injectors
NGK spark plugs
3 inch lowering springs

My mods: (i know i have them) lol
short ram intake
cat back exhaust

who do you think will win?

I will put 20 bucks on my 80 year old grandma in her chromed wheel chair... oh yea baby!... lol....

lol... bigger fuel rail with stock injectors.... wow that defeats the purpose of the larger fuel rail right there.

NGK plugs that are a step colder to do what? Burn more fuel since they are usually meant for boostes apps.

Hands down on your Z man!...

ya i would have to agree - he really doesnt have anything special - the only thing that he has or says he has is the cat back - intake, which you have - you have more displacement - the only thing ya might see is the launch he will get a better launch out of first gear because he has a longer redline - but your second should be stronger than his an 3rd gear in honda's is weak - the syncros are the most common thing to go on a honda an its always 3rd... people rail the hell out the 3rd in those cars - i raced my friends 2001 prelude si aws - with my dad's z24 cowl induction 2.8 an raped him - both cars were stock - he was whinning about it - oh that thing is a 89 its old it should be slower - i was like listen buddy - your car is gay an then left - lol

a prelude 2.0 si statistics show 0-60 9.3
1/4 mile in 16.8
a cavy 2.4 Z-24 statistics show 0-60 8.3
1/4 mile in 15.7
that i would say you should do him pretty good

ya could always port & polish your TB out with a drill press an sand spinner disk - an you will have better throttle response.... takes about an hour to do, friends pay me all the time to do them cause none of them have a drill press heeh - its a easy 50 bucks - cause if you were to go an buy the TB it would cost from 2-300 $ for a ported/polish TB to that degree

He wasnt really pissed he was more... shocked id say... he doesnt really care that theirs a "Z24" emblem on the side just as long as its a cavalier... not many people think of a cavalier as being a fast car and the Z24 aspect helps matters a lot :) he kept on making excuses like having a bad clutch, and his timing was off and how hed gotten a bad start... i just laughed and called him a sore loser :)... oh and i agree with godenm we need some instructions with that port and polish :) i wanna do that cuz i have access to a drill press :)

Not sore loser, just loser. F*kin prelude. That car makes NO sense to me!!! he should have the non v-tec which makes about 140hp stock. He's pretty much got the same mods! the fuel rail without injecotrs!! WTF and he hasn't done enough to warrant more fuel anyhow!! Although my old 2001 Neon had a McDonald's size drinking straw fuel rail it saw off preludes and Integras!! With only a filter and 94 octane! Maybe I can just drive like Emmerson Fittipaldi!! Actaully my dad called me that once in my Fiance's Fiat Cinquecento when i went round a roundabout in england at like 65 mph with the rim on the left side grounding out!!! He was a little scared!!!

ok this is for noshun an big dude1 an anyone else that wants to benifit on it - ya guys wanted to know a way to save you a few hundred bucks by doin a quick 1 hour polish job on your throttle bodies....
Ok first off you will need to go and remove the TB off the care carefully disconnecting the intake hose/vac/sensors/all that shit ya know what i mean..
then get it in the house i would let it get room temp but if you drove it let it cool down on the bench inside or something - cause if its cold we all know metal contracts from temp... so it will be harder to fit the bit inside the inlet... then go an use a micrometer (shown below)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/a_major_threat/car/micrometer.jpg
then measure the size so u can determ. what size grithead to get...
(shown below)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/a_major_threat/car/gritbit1.jpg
while in the store you are goin to want to pic up a can of dust off
(shown below) compressed are in a can
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/a_major_threat/car/canofdustoff.jpg
if its the only car to drive then just measure the TB while its on the car - just pop the intake off an snag a quick measure then go get the supplies.
then once you have all your materials - you get urself set up - properly install the grit head (sand paper wheel)on the drill press make sure its tight so it doesnt slip if it a shity DP. adjust the height so you know the bit will go into the TB it will look like it isnt gonna fit but it will it will spin in trust me ... make sure you hold the TB firm an flat.. slowly start to bore the intake side of the TB go slow dont just jam it down - when it stops squeaking an making the majority of the noise go deeper in the TB every so often dump the shavings out so u get a nice even grind - it will look like cigar ashes in a super fine grind.... randomly check the wall size of the TB do not go below the 40 mark on the wheel part of the micrometer... bore all the way down to the butterfly of the TB u will see the bore when u look through the other side with the butterfly gate open. then proceed to do the same on the other side the outlet of the TB.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/a_major_threat/car/gritbit2.jpg
^^^ that is what the bit will look like after doin 3 TB's with the same head -after 3 i would toss it an get a new one since they are cheap an just to have around...
make sure you throughly clean this part as it is the main entrance to your engines internals an has a # of differents sensors/vains an ports that can have metal shavings in them thats what the dust off is for..use paper towels an clean it out really good...you can get a polishing wheel & brushing bits an a dremel...http://www.dremel.com/html/images/products/bits/small/530.gif
http://www.dremel.com/html/images/products/bits/small/531.gif http://www.dremel.com/html/images/products/bits/small/532.gif
http://www.dremel.com/html/images/products/bits/small/520.gif
an clean the outside...this one was a acura tb stock 60mm bored an polished to 65mm as u can see it was fully taken apart an given some rich time as it is now spotless.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/a_major_threat/car/GSR.jpg intake ^^^^
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/a_major_threat/car/GSR2.jpg outlet ^^^^
hope that helps you guys out - i have done about 29 TB jobs for friends an friends of friends i ususally charge 50 bucks for a bore 100 for bore/polish job....
havnt had any people come back to me to complain - only to thank me an ask if i can do it for another person or another car they have...

good luck take ur time if its ur first time :p

Isn't the above mentioned tool actually Vernier Calipers? As far as I'm aware i Micrometer looks like a little c clamp with measurements on it

http://www.glue-it.com/model-engineering/general-information/glossary/m/pictures/micrometer-001.jpg

I used them when I was gettin my English Physics degree at college! Measuring thicknesses.

Maybe that's just and English thing!

If it's not bored all the way through and the butterfly isn't replaced whats the big gain? You'll still have the smaller opening where the butterfly is. Good work though!
(wow, this thread is really wide)
