Being a new Rodeo owner (Sept), and visiting this forum; First I would like to say thank you to any that have helped me with questions. I have read alot of neg. about the 97 Rodeo (mostly the NHTSA complaints). Are they really that bad of a truck? I have 79800 on mine. since I purchased it, I have only put on shocks and the flex pipe (knock on wood!!!!). I have read much about lugs shearing off and was wondering if people are really haveing these problems, or if it was isolated [regional, wheel type (aluminum), etc]. I know personally, the only real gripe I have is the defroster isn't the best, and a slightly louder than I am used to engine (I just put in 5 quarts Super Tech synthetic, and a quart of Slick 50). Overall, I love this truck; very roomy, ride not all that bad, haven't tried it in snow yet but am eager (Pa. should eventually get some :) Thank you again for this forum.

Paul, in my opinion, 1997 is one of the BEST rodeo years. Reliable SOHC 3.2L, + the last year of that run before the 1998 change, so they basically had 1991-1997 to perfect it. Keep up on your maintenance & be sure to changeout the ATF on your 4L30E AT often.
G/luck!
Joel
