Hi y'all...new guy here!
I recently purchased a 98 Crown Vic that was a former squad car for a small city. It's in decent shape...no rust or body damage to speak of...a few holes here & there. I've already replaced the tires, tranny filter & fluid (didn't smell burnt), rear axle seals & bearings, new rotors & pads all around thanks to cracked rotors up front & greasy rotors in the back (due to the rear axle seals). It runs good...fairly smooth ride (even at 100 mph), shifts ok & gets 20 mpg.
My question is the power windows and locks. The only way I can work them is from the drivers door. I've taken a look-see on the other doors & everything appears to be plugged in. Are they disconnected somewhere else, perhaps? I don't really wanna take it to the dealer & have their mechanics search at their rates.
Also, are there aftermarket headers for this particular vehicle?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The locks and windows can be disconnected (or cut) at the driver's door, or at each door seperately. There is no way, other then unplugging/cutting wires to disable the power locks or windows to all but the driver's door.
For headers see www.adtr.net

Thanks, i'll check for cut wires...I do know that they're plugged in at the switches, tho.
Another question...can a I replace my "dial-type" heater/ac panel w/a digital one? If so, is it difficult?

Yes it is difficult. The Digital HVAC control is also "Auto Climate Control", and your manual system has no parts for the auto system (controls, sensors etc).
It has been done, but I would definately NOT advise it.

Uhhhh.....for the door locks and windows, you might be SOL. Most cop cars have the other switches not wired. They are there just because the main switch runs through them. Think...would you lock a perp in the back and give him a window switch that worked?

I pulled the switches...there's wires running to them. I realized before I bought the car that the windows/locks & door handles wouldn't work, but thought that they could be made operable.

Did you check the wiring at the door lock actuators and the window regulators?
