New troubles for the week.

OK, when the new nose drive went on, you have to unhook the battery. Well I did. And the theft lock on the radio came on. I don't care, I have the code and phone number. Went in, got the 6 digit code, called, found out what numbers to put in, and did it. The only thing is, I missed the first number, it went by it. I figured "who cares", I'll do it again. No way Freddie. It locked up. Tried again, nothing happening.
I took it up to dealer, let them play with it. The tech said "how many times did you try"? I told him twice. Now he said, your f---ed. He said, you have to take it home, turn the key on, and leave it on for an hour. Then the radio will reset it self. I'm at the point I'm going to reset it in the trash.
If I ever get this out and working, it will never have a code again. I don't care if someone takes it. Let them figure it out.

Try this;

** Theftlock Bypass

1. Press and hold presets 2 & 3 for about 10 seconds until the first 3 digits of the display code are displayed.

2. Write the numbers down.

3. Press the AM/FM button, write down the next 3 numbers.

4. Call 1-800-537-5140, when asked, enter 620529, press the # button and enter the 6 digit code from the radio, you will get an unlock code, write it down.

5. Go back to the car, press the HR button and set the first 2 numbers, then press minute button and set the next two last numbers, press AM/FM button, SEC should be displayed, turn on radio.

To remove customers code, repeat step 5. you should see --- on radio face, the code is now out of the radio.

OK guys. The one thing I want to know is;
How can you leave the key on for an hour, without something happening?
The battery will die, right?
And why can't you just disconect battery and have the samething happen.
Or, who wants to just send me theirs? That way it would be fixed faster.

Nope, haven't tried it yet. Should just go out and buy a Ford radio for..nah, can't put any junk in my car.

No, I think I will put the day time running lights off. And try it that way.
Don't want GM to touch it. Don't want them messing with my CPU.

disconnecting your battery should work in theory anyway.

Been trying to get someone at the dealers to tell me one way or another. One says yes, then the next says no. And they wonder why they won't work on my car.

on my moms gp its not that hard at all! and ive missed the code a few times and its never locked up. Hers is a 97 BTW.

I have a 98. And I missed the first number on the hour setting. ONLY once. GM says "that's all it takes". Damn if they weren't right.
Think I'm going to keep the key, and build another car around it.
