I'd put in a 5.7L Chev engine. I don't know of any adaptor kits for dodge engine swaps. There are tons of kits to put in 5.0 and 5.7L chev engines and transmissions into a yj. It's probably a lot cheaper too.

the 4.3L vortecs are a very good swap as well. Definatly something to look into.

Either way, you'll have to swap out the front and rear ends with that much power. Tranny will have to go as well...there's no way it will handle that power over time--especially with a 350.

you will have to change trans and transfer case also it would be alot of work but i'm not saying it is impossible. but then again the stock axles wont take the abuse unless you have dana 44's but pretty rare in a yj. but i've been doing some research on putting 2.8 0r 3.1 out of a camaro or firebird in my yj with a 5spd the gm motors will bolt right up to the stock tranny but with a different flywheel still researching on this though. just thought you might like to know about an easier swap.

hey guys this goes for anyone looking to put some more power into a a wrangler. Im jus saying i have a 2.5 in my 88 wrangler right now im buying an 89 wrangler with a 4.2L carburated. I would look into puting such an engine into ur jeep because it takes the least amount of fabrication. I m buying this jeep for 500 dollars and its a 4.2L 5spd manual this engine is carbed and i plan to get anintake manifold and fuel-injection system off of a H.O. 4.0L chereoke or wrangler along with the computer and wiring harness it may seem like alot of work but the 4.2 is stroked more and has the potential to have more horse power and torque then the 4.0. The fact is i will have all of the parts i need motor mounts lines and gas tank and suspension components that become nessacities to drop a new engine into a wrangler and it will take lil to no modifations to fit it under the hood and when i m finished rebuilding and wiring the new engine and new fuel injection system i will be pushing more than the 4.0 can its a smalll swap but it will create a better vehicle in the end i think u can take my advice or leave it thats ur choice any questions email me

I am looking to do some work to my 95 2.5L wrangler i currently have 33s on it with a 5 1/2 inch lift. I would like to put some work into it but at the same time trying to stay under 7,000 i am looking into the 4.3L vortec from chevy and have not found much info on them being put into jeeps. i would like to stay away from V-8s it seems like to much trouble. But i have to do something because my little 2.5 has to hard of a time pulling the tires on the highway i was also wondering what kind of tranmission i would have to get and anthing else that i might have to do to my wrangler to make everything correct. If someone has some tips i would greatly appreciate it.

Well the Chev 572 has 700+ horsepower and costs $14k usd. That would be an ideal setup. However trying to pick a transmission that can handle that kind of horsepower, would be hard. Must be a custom job. I think an Atlas is good. A GM 500ci H.O. 450HP costs $6k usd. GM 350ci at 290HP is the way to go crates go for $2k usd. All these are Crate Engines (BRAND NEW)

My choice would be a reman 305 chev V8, 5.0 L, 305ci $1k usd (Reman Engine). Off a truck or blazer. Then hooking that up to a TH400 and NP205 with perhaps a Klune-V. Its already EFI.

Personally I would do a GM 350 (290HP 326 ft/lb) crate $2k usd, mated to a 700R4 (crate $1300 usd 500HP limit), to a Dana 300. Ford 8.8 with rear discs or a D44 (Rear Axle), D44 front. Both with detroit lockers or ARB air if you can afford them. 2" Body lift, 2.5" leaf spring lift (on YJ) and get some 35" tires M/T.
