Two Nitpicks

The first is probably the easiest, hence it being first...

My windshield wipers slap...and I'm talking SLAP, like a pimp slapping a hooker...they hit the bottom of the windshield, and this of course makes loud noise...it can get really annoying on a long trip, hell, it gets annoying after three slaps...

It seems to do it when the windshield is good and wet...I've taken off the wipers and advanced the splines to the point where my wipers (when off) are halfway up my windshield...

My dad thinks it's the bearing...does anyone know for sure?



The other...

When pulling out (usually when first started, after sitting overnight) the Jeep will knock really badly...it's like the clutch is slipping, but my when my dad drives it, it never does it...period...

I believe the clutch is still in decent shape, but this really worries me...it feels like the driveshaft is smacking up against the bottom of the floor sometimes...but it usually goes away after a few minutes of driving...

Anybody have any ideas?

My wipers did the same thing. I adjusted them up and up and up... I finally fixed it by taking out the wiper motor and found the mounting screws were loose. After a quick turn with a handy driver, they were no longer slapping my hood.

check the transmission mount, on the tail stock of the tranny. Its rubber and sometimes wears out and even breaks. Use a pry bar and pry up the tranny, it should only move a little.

Part one- mark your wipers current position as a reference point. lift up on the wiper and pull out on the tab at the mount point. if the mount point has play, remove the other wiper arm and the 8 #2 crosstip screws for the acess cover. Inspect drive motor and cure as necessary. Part 2- obvious things first. Fluid level, any leaks, any bulges or dry rot of the 2 hydraulic clutch lines from the cylinder to the trany. I would not think it to be the clutch assembly because it would fail intermittently at all temp ranges.

Got the chance to check the wipers today before six inches of snow hit...turns out that it's the passenger side wiper...there is WAY too much play in it...

Dad thinks it's the pivot? The gear that the wiper mounts to...there is alot of slack in it...the other one seems to be fine and the motor seemed mounted in tight...wasn't able to really dig into it, as, like I said, it started snowing, and didn't feel like stopping...

Any idea what the part is really called?
