i have a manual but dont know if i will change that to an auto when i beef up my engine and get a shift kit and a stall for it. I once in a while miss a gear when i get on it.

Sticks are more fun, but auto's are consistant. My wife gets the auto, and I have the 5 speed, and sometimes I drive her car, especially on long trips.

Manuals are fun if you want to be a stop light tough guy. However, when you want to go REAL fast (10s and below) I think auto is the only way to go.

There was a guy on some site that had his TKO powered stang running 9's... In the 1/4 BTW...

Bob Hanlon and his 9-second Tremec-equiped Stang would have a good laugh at you.
Not to mention the guys running 7,8's with Liberty manuals.

Some people are very talented with the manual. In my view though, the Liberty is in a category of its own. Keep in mind the Liberty is designed to take about 3,000 horsepower, it's also a $7500 transmission. Not to mention a shifter alone is almost $800. I didn't say it couldn't be done, I'm just saying I wouldn't.

Your view or not it's still a manual and those 9'second range auto's and torque convertor are not being sold for chump change either.
Not bashing auto's but just disagreeing with your opinion of needing an auto to go really fast.

i saw this dude in a mustang go low 7s with a stickshift manual, h-pattern, here at Milan Dragway. so it can be done.

Mine is stick also. Auto tranny's just suck all your power out, I can understand people who want a car that's easy to drive, but if you want power you gotta go Manual :D

your lazy, I had no choice... Automatic for me
I thought liberty manuals were clutchless transmissions that used clutchpacks instead of sycros to lock a gear the the shaft?
no fair to compare a clutchless manual to a standard manual

Im 5speed.
However it is not true that Manuals are the only way for power. Many fast as hell cars feature performance automatic transmissions.

9s or under an AUTO for repeatability, all other give me a stick.

In a street car I like my 5 speed. In my strip/street car I'm going with a C4. Figured it might help keep those pesky blue lights away if I accidently hit 2nd a lil too hard :evillol: .

my 88 gt is manual and i had an auto 94 gt. the manual is much quicker and alot more fun to drive. its not the auto that is really more consistant but the driver.
