I have a 93 Chevy Silverado with a 350. Recently something happened with the starter and blew the positive battery cable completely apart up by the terminal. We put a new starter in, positive cable, and battery and everything was fine for about a month. Now it starts when it's cold but after it's warm it turns over once, clicks and then nothing. But after it cools, starts up. We thought it was the starter again so put another one in, but still the same thing. All the connections are good. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?

already checked the ground wire, but didn't put the heat shield back on, is that a problem?

yep ... if the starter solenoid switch gets hot it will not engage the starter

like rabt said the sheild is important, I left mine off and it was doin the same thing. Heatsoaking and starters don't go well together.

Took the ground wire off the block and cleaned it again. Put it back on and having no problems, I think it is a temporary fix though, so we will get the heat sheild back on too. Thanks
