I just found this website, and it looks great. to start off, im a poor college student who's driving a 91 bravada as an everyday back and forth between work and school and home. i dont have a lot of money to throw around so am looking for any help possible on some of these problems that might help me in trying to fix them myself.
1. the heater fan no longer blows on any setting, i can feel hot air trickling out of the vents but the fan/fans no longer run. i checked the fuse and its fine, and from guesswork and another post i saw on hear im guessing its the motor?
2. its started having problems with shifting, it shifts fine but it seems like the shift indicater on the dash is mis-aligned with the shifter? meaning it doesnt go into park anymore and when i shift say into drive it looks like its actually in neutral on the indicator. ive heard it suggested that it may have something to do with the linkage? though im not sure what that is...
im basically just trying to figure out if theres anyway i can do to look into these problems myself or if these are problems that are definitely needing to be handled by a mechanic, and if thats the case how much im looking at estimate-wise to get these repaired... thx in advance this is a great site.

Your heater motor is likely worn out. This is an easy parts swap as it's in a convenient location, under the hood/left side of the firewall, take the screws out and replace the motor...'bout $20. Give yourself an hour or so.
Your shift indicator is likely just out of adjustment. This is not a vehicle or transmission problem and isn't necessary except for your convenience. Remove the lower dash panel below the steering wheel and you should see a clip with a string attached to it on the end of a tube. This tube is part of the steering column shift assembly. This clip fits in a slot on the tube. Give yourself an hour or so.
Now go to eBay and bid on a factory service manual so you can really maintain your Bravada...keep it slick and you may just want to keep it for a very long time. They really can't be beat for bad weather driving on the road, really surefooted.

Uh-oh, the shift linkage has slipped. Your indicator is most likely telling the truth.
Has the transmission or transfer case been worked on lately? If so, take it back to the trans. shop that did the work and tell them the shifter linkage has loosened & needs adjusting and properly tightening.
If not, then the drivers side motor mount or rear transmission mount may be loose enough to let the motor and trans to move enough to keep the shifter from working properly. One or the other will need replacing if it's bad.
If it's been wrecked, it may have been re-adjusted but not properly tightened. Some proper mechanical equipment & experience is required to pull this job off. As you know, Park really needs to work...I recommend a general repair shop or experienced Mechanic to do this.
