The easy way to find out is to look at your carb. Is there any wires on it??

If not than the answer is:
A> Not sure, maybe
B> Yes
c> No
D> I'm on the Atkins diet, carbs are bad

we know, you dont, thats why your asking a question that you should be able answer if you own atleast half a brain. Think about your ?, think about our comments. If you can't figure it out from there, don't attempt to fix up your ride by yourself

cadillakin,
thanks for your time. yes, i'm a 59 year young kid and dont know much about these rigs. too cold to go poking around right now, but dont think there are any elec connections to the carb. guess i'll hit the manual again, just want to see if i have a computer so i can determine what kind of carb i need. there's not much else to do 'cept bring in firewood, lol

There may be one wire going to a round cover on the side of the carb even if it is not computerized. If there are any other wires going to the carb then it is an electronic carb and there is a computer of some sort. If it is only the one wire it is not computerized, But has an electric choke.

Sorry for the confussion .
Take the air cleaner lid and the housing off of the carb. Look down from the top of the carb. Are there any wires, not hoses connected to the top front area of the carb?? If so then its computer controled, the wire should be a two wire connector for the mixture control sol.

FIREPLUG,
yea, braved the -30 weather and did as you suggested, and you are right. no connectors to the carb except for the auto choke. but am still wondering, IF there is a computer, where would it be located ??
thanks all

Thaught about that last night after I logged off Thunderbolt that there could still be a wire and still be non computerized. Thanks for pointing that out. As for you Aerie, it really sounds like you have a non-computerized carb there buddy. Since you insist on double checkin', computer could be located either under the hood, passanger side floor board, kick panel or behind glove box. I'm not sure on the '84s where the exact location would be or if any 84's had any computer. But the possible locations are the only places I have ever seen a computer on a vehicle, Actually, I know newer Lexus's have 'puters deep inside the trunk. But your old skool truck there wouldn't (atleast shouldn't) be diificult to locate, if any.
