I bought a used 2000 Sihouette and it only has about 45000 miles on it. I have found over the last 5000 miles that it uses a lot of oil. I probably have put in over 5 quarts!! Does anybody else have this problem? I suppose I should have it looked at right soon.
Any help would be appreciated.

You may have figured it out by now, but nevertheless, I am having the same problem. I would check first the PCV valve. What are the signs or symptoms? Blue smoke through the exhaust? Are your plugs fouled? Pull a plug and check compression. That will tell you about piston rings, but not specifically the oil rings. Check your transmission fluid. Oil has been known to be sucked through the motor transmission shaft. It could also be your valve guides.
Did you have a mechanic look at it before you bought it? Do you know its history?

Are you sure it's only 45K, could it be more, lots more. How well do you know the person who sold it to you? Have you checked Car Facts, did it pass smog, I can't believe that burning a quart every 1000 miles dosen't give some visable smoke.
