Hello to all. I'm new to the site and I just wanted to say that I look forward to reading the helpful advice that I see is posted, as well as helping others out, if I'm able. I am hoping to be purchasing a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie SLT, Club Cab, 4x4, w/ 5.9L auto. trans. in the next couple of days. The truck has 180,000 actual miles, however, the current owner (who I know) had a new factory engine installed at 158,000 miles and a factory rebuilt tranny installed at 145,000. He has never had any MAJOR problems with this truck, of course he has always performed extensive regular servicing on all mechanical parts. I guess I would just like to hear any pro or con input concerning this make, model, etc. truck. Any input, or advise, would be greatly appreciated.

They're alright....as in go for it, or as in I could do better. I'm getting the truck for $4500.00 because he needs the cash fast to move to Pa.

You say he never had any major problems with this truck. It doesn't have the original engine or trans in it now.
That's about as bad as it gets. For $4500.00 you couldn't go wrong I don't think.

Well, I got it...and I'm glad I did. A really nice truck all the way around.
I went ahead and changed all of the fluids and filters and she runs like a dream.
