"Son of a BITCH"

So I'm sure some of you read my "Score" thread. Here's a little update.
So I was at a friends house last night and her parents had a lot of company over. I was parked on the street just like everybody else. It was time for everybody to go home and I was in the basement. The doorbell rang and I could hear one of the ladies asking whose green car that was. I became concerned; she then said that she hit it.
She was backing out of the driveway and apparently didn’t see my car and backed right into the driver side door, and put a huge dent in the door. My first thought was shit; I only have PLPD, because I'm all of 17 years of age that’s all I can afford. But then I realized that her State Farm insurance would cover it. :)
I played it off like it wasn’t that big of a deal and didn’t tell the lady that my Christmas present was getting that damn thing fixed from the last accident. But my friend knew how un-happy I really was. I called my father and all he could say was, "Son of a bitch".

Sorry to here about this man, i know what the disappointment feels like. I was without my bird for a month because of a old lady driver that flew past the red.
Anyway, you got nothing to worry about.. Here's why.
Even if you have BASIC liability-like i do, if it's the others persons fault by 80% or more-there insurance HAS to pay to fix it, end of story.
Now, the only way you wouldn't get sh** is if you where illegally parked, or your car was an OBSTRUCTION to the road. Which i bet it wasn't.
Call your insurance, explain EVERYTHING making sure you point out that your car was in NO WAY in confliction with other cars/traffic, basically saying SHE was 100% wrong. Get in contact with her insurance, and tell them you need your door fixed, AND PAINTED-because it didn't have this and that in it (dents/scrapes etc-work it up good :-)..
One thing i must convey here, BE RELENTLOUS. These insurance company's don't give a rats ass for anyone, and they wont do SQUAT unless your the man calling everyone and demanding they fix/help you.
Good luck, let us know what happens.. Nice car again. I gotta get my headlight covers again like that.

Sorry to hear about the door and sorry to hear you (solaris) have had a bad time with insurance companies. I have been in more than my fair share w/ more their faults than mine. I have never had a problem with the other guys insurance company. They've made it so easy and typically went out of their way to make things right for me. It's easier to make things right than have a lawyer climbing up their ass. State Farm has been my carrier for more than 10 years and have always been good to me. 94greenbeast, I don't think you have much to worry about.

Yea, I just called State Farm today and that is basically what they told me. If I was park Illegally then it would be my fault and not hers. But the cop looked at where I was parked and i think that he wrote it down so i should be ok. I'm hopeing.

Everything will be ok. You would have seen on the police report ILLEGALLY PARKED CAR.

They would have given you a ticket if you were illegally parked.
Insurance almost always do what is the right thing for the person who was in the right.

No I didn't take it that way Rick. No I just have to decide whether or not to replace the bent hood at the same time from a previous incident. The guy at the shop said that it would be cheaper to do it all at the same time. Maybe I can find one at junkyeard or something. Don't really want to spend all they money on an aftermarket one. However, it would be nice to look like ThunderbirdMuscle.

sad to hear man always sucks to have your baby hurt, but look at it this way, at least you wont have to replace those damn hinges for a while

lol about the hinges.. my drivers door hinges were awful already. I say replace the hood. You'll be glad you did later.. unless somebody hits your hood the week after. (knock on wood)

I cant say that I agree, but I do have a story which backs it up. A friend of mine was parked in a no parking zone, and a lady in my apartment complex was in a hurry, (and we believe she was intoxicated but it was never proven), well, she reversed out of her spot and hit my friend's car hard enough to slide it about 5 feet. It was an old bright red AUDI and it made the front bumper sag and cracked it and what not and that was about it... well, she tried to blame it on his illegal parking, but that never lead to anything, and her insurance payed my friend $1500. The cool thing is that his car was worth $1550. The claims adjuster said, since the repairs are more than the blue book, I'm going to reduce the claim to 1500 so that we wont have to take your car, and you can have the money. They cut him the 1500$ check, and then he sold the car for 1500$. Anyways, even though he was parked illegaly the other ladys insurance paid for it and he never got a ticket. I believe though, that it is standard procedure to fault the illegaly parked car, and in this case it just kinda fell through the cracks. But I dont KNOW that.

the only way your freind could have got a ticket is if the police officer witnessed the illegally parked car. but if he took the report he probably did not want to be bothered or felt bad for your friend. but if the lady made a stink he could have gave him (or you in your case)a ticket. now they can try all they want even by going to small claims court to state there case even w/ proof of an illegally parked veh.Just w/ a little resistance you & your friend win, cause they hit a non-moving fixed object
