How To's are banned except for Kustmaces How to's but he's kinda the boss so that's the end of that and this isn't one.

Ok so you've fitted a short ram intake! It sounds good, you're convinced you've added power!! You notice though that your filter is in the engine bay and it's sucking hot air from said engine bay. Now we all know that hot air means less density and less combustive meaning less power! What to do. Take some Aluminium sheet and measure the gap in which your filter sits and then build, by bending the alu and either cutting a hole for the intake tube or a notch for it. Although I've not yet finished as it hasn't dipped above freezing here yet! I will be removing the front bumper and boring a nice hole in it and will use a speaker port to tidy this up and make it look bitchin'. Hopefully a rectangular one with rounded corners but probably just a circular one. I will then build an alu channel that will feed a pipe that will run up through the hole in the inner fender from the stock intake and then angle this close and at the Filter. The hole in the bumper will be as close to 6" from the ground as possible, the coolest point. I learned that from an Aeronautical Technician named Jim. Good Guy! I will of course take into acount the amount the springs I want will lower the car. I braced the heat sheild up so it stays 'square' and bolted it to the front bolt for the strut. Lined the edges with insulation tape so i don't cut myself on it! Done! Also it amplifies the induction roar and it's really intoxicating that I can't help but near red-line it! Although I break most speed limits before I'm out of 2nd!!

The heat shield consept is a good idea, but the laws of physics still show even adding a heat shield will still suck in hot air off the engine. This will happen when you just put is on the filter..

I think i somewhat understand what you are doing. Is this going to be a box thats going to sit where the old black box use to sit? Then run the piping where the bong use to sit from under the car?. I need some pics otherwise i am lost.. the pic is why it won't work with the heat sheild just on the filter..

It butts up against the inner fender so the only avenue for hot air is through the small gaps around the intake pipe that allow it to move a little with the engine. I'll post pics when I can.I'm working night and it's pretty much dark when I get up and get in. I'll try to do it a.s.a.p.

P.s. Use your imagination!!

mmmm do we have an orange engine bay or someone needs to clean it!..
Your going to still get warm air sucked into that no matter what. And if you get any gains out of it, its not worth the amount of time for me to waste doing that. But what ever floats your boat.

With the feed I wont be sucking in all hot air and will hardly get any as the feed will force air towards the filter and displace any hot air. But it sounds great and took me about 30 mins!!

It's not orange it's where the sun was hitting the Camera lens and for ease of use I used a 1.3 MegPix dig cam so it just LOOKS orange but is red!!!
