transmission pan drain plug

can anyone hit me back with the bolt size of the drain plug on a 4l60e? also, any hints on how to get it out? its torqued in there like a mofo and im pretty sure they had a pint of locktite they had to get rid of so they put it all on my particular drain plug. thanx.

I had the same problem. I stripped the drain plug to heck. I ended up drilling a hole on the bottom to drain. Then I installed one of these, no problems no more.

I stripped mine trying to get it out as well. I used the old fashioned, and very messy "pull the pan" method to get the fluid out, and to replace the plug. My dealer had one so I just replaced w/original. I think I actually had to resort to vice grips to finally get the old one out.

15mm, I think. For anybody who has not stripped theirs yet, use a long-handled ratchet and work very gently. The bolt head is short, making it easy for the socket to slip off. I had no problems once I got my plug out the first time.

well i tried to on my old tranny and found that it had a nut on the other sire of the bolt i was tring to remove/???? i know stupid but true. i though it was a drain plug but it was more like a nut and bolt why i have no idea anyway tranny was blown anyway so i put a deep pan to hold more fluid and a aftermarket cooler. well i didnt the tranny guy did it for me at a really good rate to ensure the fluid doesnt over heat
