89 max vs another neon

Alright, I did it again. I put another guy in his place.

The roads were still wet from the light rain we've been having for the past few hours, and there is still a light drizzle goin on, and I need to get back home in time for curfew, so im driving somewhat quickly in these wet conditions. I'm sitting at a light where its going slightly uphill and I'm turning left. I notice a new Neon sitting next to me, probably an LX or something. I think nothing of it, while the F150 on the other side of me honks the horn. I look over, shrug, and wait for the light to change.

Light goes green, and I go. I spin tires quite a bit, not really trying, but not preventing it from happening. I shift to second, make the turn, and see a truck goin slower than me (he turned right onto the same street from the other direction). I glance over, see there is enough room between me and the Neon for me to get over, so I do.

Apparently, the Neon didn't like this too much. At the next light, he pulls up next to me. I glance over, and he glances back. I move forward an inch or two, giving it some gas just to move (maybe 1100 RPMs...just a light touch on the gas). He doesn't do anything, so I take off really slow from the light.

I look over and see the Neon accelerating as hard as he can without spinning tires, so I just floor it and spin quite a bit, with a good bit of the dredded wheel hop. I shift to second, and spin more tires for a couple seconds, but since I shifted so soon the tires gripped after only about a second, so I stop his pull on me, with me at his quarter panel. I run second all the way out, and that puts my nose to his front fender.

I shift into third at about 56 mph, and take it up to 70, where he's already about to my rear bumper. I just shift into fourth and let my car slow back down on its own, since the speed limit is 50. The guy in the neon stays on it until he reaches probably around 65-70.

At the light coming up, I notice that he maybe wants to go again, since he stops really short of the line, since in the lane I am in, there is a car sitting there already. I don't feel like running again, so I just stay in my lane, and he gives it gas and pulls up to the line. He takes off kind of quick from this light, and I just take off slow, one race is enough for tonight, plus my turn is coming up, and I am already a couple minutes late for my curfew :uhoh:.

I know this is nothing compared to most other people on these forums, but I just wanted to share this with you guys because it made me laugh. A 15 year old car with close to 200K miles beatin a basically new neon...

learn to adapt yoru driving to different weather conditions first..... cause if you don't you look like an unexperiance driver and a jackass.....

awhile ago i was driving on this road with alot of turns and after awhile it turned in to a very long strigh road..... well this guy in a acura passed me quite fast so i was like hmm never raced an accura so i migha s well have fun... well at the ligh i see him looking over so i looked at him looked at the road and then looked at him again .... when he saw me doing that... he reved his engin... so im like ok its on.... well i didn't even have the rev up but i kidna released the clutch faster then what the wet road allowed me to... and i was just buring out... so i let go of the gas and hit the gas again and i started buring out again.... but hten after awhile i caugh up iwth him.... and when the long road came i was so bumed out i decited not to race him no mroe.... but i think i mihg have kept up with that car if not beating it..... but i wasn't adapted well to the wet ness that i made an ass out of my self...

other then that... poeple think neons are pretty fast cause they have seen some neons with mods that are fast... but most dump drivers think neon stock are fast but they are not that fast.... compare to other stock cars....

I do know how to drive in the rain...its just that I was having a little fun in the rain. Believe me, I know how to take off plenty fast in the rain without spinning tires, I just felt like spinnin tires a little. So I did. And like I said, I shifted to second early, which made the tires catch? I know my car. Either way, I won.

I never said that the neon was fast stock, I'm just saying the guy was trying to show off to his girl friend or whoever was in the car with him so I felt like making him look bad for wanting to race an old car.

lo in the old days i have done that alot. Back then i had a 18 yr old mercedes who belong to my grandpa. When i got him he was on the point of dying (the car, not my grandpa, he was already gone :disappoin ).

Anyway, i actually drifted a lot with him on wet roads, damn that were times full of fun, when the roads were dry it was rally time. Messed up two times the handbrake, lol

Wow, that's only possible in a slow fwd car. In light mist I slide everytime I shift a gear.

my friend has a dodge dakota 5.2L 5 speed, with headers, full exhaust, and intake. he said that these rednecks in trucks kept tryin to race him on rainy days and they had all wheel drive. it was funny the way he told it to me. but even on a dry day its hard for his tires to not spin.

Glad to hear you burnt the neon even though it is a domestic.

I raced a neon once in a ranger doing a hundred on I 95. I couldn't hepl myself we were both driving white autos with blue racing stripes. It was all fun till the jerk pulled up next to a SUV and wouldn't let me around. So I found out that driving the emergency lane at 80mph could be a lot of fun. Unfortunately two state troopers were waiting for me a mile down the road.

After being pulled over and questioned nothing was proved and I was on my way. The guy in the SUV had called in and reported the truck driving in the emergency lane. I hate cell phones!
