Which One Should I Buy? 04 or 05 RSX-S

I wanted to buy an RSX Type S since 02, now that I have the money and a license (just turned 17) to buy one, I could'nt make a decision whether to buy a 2004 or 2005. You have to admit, the 04 looks way better than the 05, with the 04's shapely headlights and tailights; or should I just get an 05 just to keep up to date? 10 extra hp is nothing really! What do you guys think? THANKS!!!!!

I like the way the 04 looks compared to the 05. And yeah 10hp isnt that much of a difference considering it came mostly from intake, exhaust, and cams. However there are a few things that make the 05 rsx a little more apealing. The final drive ratio was lowered so you will get a little more acceleration, it also now has carbon synchros on 5th and 6th gear. Also stiffer springs, lower ride height, and thicker stabilizer bars help the handleing. Which if your going to completely redo your car these things might not mean much to you, but if your not planning on completely redoing your car anytime soon these are a few things to think about.

2005. People are only looking at the 10 hp.
Differences (there are one or two missing) that the 05 has:
Powertrain (Type-S only)
* Engine modifications that boost the horsepower of the Type-S model to 210 at 7800 rpm
* High performance camshafts
* Larger intake duct
* Large diameter exhaust pipe
* High-flow catalytic converter
* 6-speed transmission optimized with a lower final gear ratio for quicker acceleration and carbon synchronizers replacing brass on 5th and 6th gears for a smoother shift feel
Chassis
* Revised suspension tuning for increased handling precision and a smoother ride
* Ride height reduced by 7 mm
* More rigid stabilizer bars (front and back for Type-S, front for RSX)
* Larger diameter front strut tower bar for Type-S
* Inversely wound front springs
* Refined steering system for enhanced feel and quicker response
* Optimized braking system for increased hold, stopping power and feel
* Larger 17-inch alloy wheels and high performance tires on the Type-S
* Body rigidity increased by 15 percent in front and 21 percent in the rear
* NVH reduced
Body
* More aggressive exterior styling with redesigned front and rear fascias
* Redesigned signature 5-sided Acura grille
* Redesigned side sill garnish
* Redesigned headlight and taillight assemblies
* Deck lid spoiler added to Type-S models
* Four new exterior colors for USA: Magnesium Metallic, Vivid Blue Pearl, Jade Green Metallic, Blaze Orange Metallic
Interior
* Deeply bolstered front seats with thicker cushioning material
* New chrome and titanium-look accents
The 2005 will be worth more when you go to sell it, is unfortunately about 80 lbs heavier but that is as a result of some of the mods,a nd the little bit more power and the better gearing (the latter being very worth it), better suspension, etc. However if you're in Canada i'd probably get the 2002-2004, the 2000+ price hike isn't worth it.

You sound like my friend's nasty mom. His poor dad ....driven to drinking by that woman and her spending. Well, I just bought a 2002 non-S with 35,500 miles for $15K and it's a pretty awesome car. It's not in perfect condition, but I guess I can deal. I evidently don't have your budgets! No, it doesn't look showroom new, but it looks great!

I would agree with everyone on the 05 mainly for the tranny update, everything else is material to me...
as for buying new or used I couldnt afford new at the time but the used one I got was a huge steal...the man I bought it from was in his mid life crisis and wanted to feel young...but was also quite cheap...so he really didnt even break the car in...If i could guess his wife "convinced" him to sell the car

... or you'll go blind!!!...
Should I worry about going blind before or after my palms get hairy?
Because if my palms get hairy first, then I'm definitely going to buy a Sheep.

Back to the question. I have an '03 but would rather have the '05 due to the extensive list above by canuck. Especially those sweet 17" rims (I know, I know, I've already said this on another post!)

I would go for an 05,if i had the money, haven't driven it yet but from what i hear you really feel the ride height and suspension differences when cornering hard. And that the new six speed is smoother and gives a bit beter acceleration.
