New Axle Too Long?

In the process of replacing passenger side Drive Axle on my 95' Aurora... but when compared to my old axle it is roughly 3/4" to 1" longer... is this going to "bind up" on me... it is a federated auto parts axle part #drv2419 maybe someone can convert this over to gm part #'s and determine if I recieved the correct thing and my old one is just wore out enough that it is this much shorter... I am pretty well mechanically inclined but must admit that this is my first front wheel drive axle replacement and I honestly don't know much about them...
