About 8 months ago my passanger side heated mirror stopped heating up but the driver side was fine. Now the driver side mirror does'nt work. The system indicator lamp on the dash does illuminate and appears to be working. Any suggestions?

vrooks....great input go play with your legos

rich, sounds like there might be a short or a blown fuse. But because they didnt stop working at the same time i wouldnt think it would be a fuse.

hey folks I am kinda new hear but it sounds to me like bad contacts . probly in the mirror itself but i would check at the door harness on the inside first on both sides then open up the mirror .all it is in there is like a piece of sticky tape with copper strip on it check it out n let me know what u find.
PS > its not a short or it would have blown the fuse !!!
but it could be the relay ,I think power goes from the switch to a relay then it splits off to the mirrors
Hope it helps ya

IT'S ME hehehe

Thanks. But if it is the relay, would'nt both mirrors have quit working at the same time, not one before the other?

not saying it is the relay it could be at the splice after it or at the door harness or in the mirror it's self
Tell us what u find so it might help the next guy or gall

Today i tried to fix my 2001 quad cab p/u elec/heated mirrors. well i got them to heat it was the 2 connectors on the heater element on both mirrors. I had to pull both mirrors off just the glass. cleaned the contacts and a little of WD-40 in the connectors and they heated and worked, BUT trying to pop off the mirrors they both cracked seems almost impossible to get them off without cracking them they are not stiff and will FLEX and crack so know im looking for new side mirrors. BE CAREFUL WHEN TRYING TO REMOVE JUST A WARNING. Any suggestions on how to remove them without breaking the mirrors.

Use a blowtorch about 8 inches away from mirror glass to heat a little then pry off, will add more flex and keep mirror from breaking. DONT FORGET SAFETY GLOVES AND GLASSES
