If you live in the UK, or have a product in your area like Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner and need to strip Acrylic Paint from parts, this stuff will do it..

I needed to strip my 360 dashboard and couldn't find any Vodka in the house or Break fluid so, what else was in the house that was pretty powerful.? Ah oven cleaner.. Worked a treat.. Just spray on leave to dissolve wash part, no more paint..!!

Cool..!!

Using Mr Muscle to strip paint isn't actually anything new, oven cleaner in general is effective in stripping certain paints and even stripping chrome plating off parts.

Man, you mean you would use vodka for stripping the paint or you would drink it so that you'd bear sanding the dashboard?

I don't drink Vodka and I sometimes have some around the house for guests etc.. I don't normally buy it, as family members get some in for their visits.

Oven cleaner worked just fine. I thought you would all know about it, but I was just happy I got the paint of so easy with oven cleaner. Means I can now spray it and not have to worry about the thick brush coat I messed up..!!

The Best Way I Have Found Is Simple Green Cleaner
If You Can Get It In Your Area(I Know Not All Of You Are In The States)
Buy A Gallon Jug And Pour It In A Large Tupperware With A Lid
Place What Ever You Need To Strip In the Tub, Two Or Three Days Later
It Will Be Paint Free And Ready For Paint And Bodywork.
BTW It Strips "Chrome" In Hours And Removes The Haze From Clear Plastic.
I Have Used It For Ten Years And Had No Problems
Best Of All It Won't Harm The Plastic(Brittle/Warp/Soften)

I just spray the mr muscle on the part, let it foam up ALL over the part and leave for 30 minutes. Went back and washed it with standard water and the paint just washed away..

I've only tried this with Acrylic and not enamel or any other type of paints. But for me it worked a treat..!!

little up date on my kit...

used oven cleaner in the other day, and left it about 1night, and paint still stick on it like never been touched. pissed me off a bit. a little info about the paint, its a normal tamiya's spray paint, so i reckon it's an acrylic.

im running out of idea now.... help.

im interested on that simple green stuff, can u post up the pic of it?? hopefully there's one in my country.... (im in new zealand, btw).

cheers, mate...

Hmm..

I think oven cleaner only works for water based Acrylic and not Synthetic Acrylic, such as Tamiya TS Spray cans etc..

I've only used oven cleaner of water based acrylic, as I've only ever needed (so far) to strip water based paints.

Sorry, think you might need Castrol Super Clean.
