On a 1990 Astro with a 4.3 is it possible to put a shorter serpentine belt on to bypass the compressor ? Tonight my clutch just siezed the A/C didn't work in the first place & it is just my work van I'm not interested in investing money into the A/C system if I don't need to. If I did this would I still be able to have a defroster ?

thanks in advance,
Ralph

Do any of you know if GM makes A/C delete brackets or are they only aftermarket add on item ?

Have you tried disconnecting the wires from the compressor? The clutch may not be seized, it be an electrical problem causing the clutch to engage in to a seized ac compressor.

If that isn't the problem.....

There should be a belt routing diagram on the fan shroud under the hood it will show if you can simply buy a belt to bypass the compressor if not, it is something the costumer must figure out.
