Is... bad for my car???

I have the remote wire for my amp, hooked up to my ignition wire right now, so that it'll ONLY be activated if the car is running or in the "ON" position with the key. That way I can still run my radio in the "ACC" position without having to have the amp on. My question is, if I have the key turned to the "ON" position if I want to have my amp on with my system, is it bad to have the car in the "ON" position WITHOUT the car actually being on? I've heard that supposedly it's bad for the alternator and/or ignition to leave the ignition in the "ON" position. Besides the obvious power drain on my battery when running the amp without the car being on, is it bad to have the ignition on for more than a few minutes? I do plan on soon wiring the remote wire to my radio, and then to a switch so I can control it being on and off seperate from the radio, and ONLY if the radio itself is on (I just gotta figure out what color and where the power wire to the radio is... :p )

I know a WAY easier way to do it than the way you did it. I did it on my car and all my friends cars before so i do know how to do it. PM me if you want the instructions on how to do it.;)

I believe that the fuel pump runs when the key is in the "ON" position. Probably not the best thing. (But maybe your car is smart and shuts it off if the engine isn't running; I'm not sure.)

In classic cars, it can be really bad because of the breaker-based ignition system. If the distributor is happened to have stopped in the 'wrong' position, the coil will burn up in seconds. Modern transistorized igniton systems don't have this problem.
